The eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 in downtown Phoenix will close for tunnel maintenance this weekend.
PHOENIX — The Interstate 10 tunnel in central Phoenix will briefly close this weekend to allow for maintenance work, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Jan. 9, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between the Interstate 17 interchange and State Route 51 will be closed until 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10. The westbound lanes of I-10 between the I-17 interchange at Sky Harbor and 7th Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11.
The State Route 51 southbound on-ramp to westbound I-10 and the Loop 202 westbound on-ramp at 24 Street will also be closed.
ADOT said the Loop 202 westbound ramp to the I-10 westbound lanes will remain open, but traffic must exit I-10 at Seventh Street.
Eastbound traffic can take I-17 as a detour and reconnect to I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport. Drivers in the East Valley should consider taking the Loop 202 as a detour to reach the West Valley.
Drivers should plan for extra travel time if they’re traveling in this region of Phoenix.
