Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Chautauqua and Wyoming counties are under a high wind warning until 10 p.m. Friday.

Gusts up to 60 miles an hour are expected. These winds will continue to be strong tonight before tapering off on Saturday.

High winds can take down trees and power lines, so be prepared in case of any power outages.

“Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines,” the wind warning advisory said. “Scattered power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.”

Several other surrounding counties are also facing wind advisories Friday.
