Henning Larsen’s New York office is seeking a Project Architect / Project Lead with approximately 8+ years of relevant professional experience to lead design teams on complex, mid- to large-scale architectural projects across all phases. This role is design-forward, execution-focused, and client-facing, with shared responsibility for project delivery, team leadership, and financial performance.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
Design Leadership
- Collaborate closely with the Design Director and Associate Design Director to implement and maintain design vision throughout all project phases
- Guide and mentor project team members throughout all phases of the project
- Develop and manage the project’s design workplan in alignment with contract requirements
Production & Project Delivery
- Lead project phases from Concept Design through Construction Administration
- Oversee the timely execution of all project deliverables, holding main responsibility for quality control and assurance
- Track open items, decisions, and action items across the project lifecycle
- Lead consultant coordination
- Demonstrate expertise in full documentation, detailing, and specifications
- Highly proficient in Revit and digital project workflows
- Apply strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning, and regulatory requirements
Financial & Contractual Responsibilities
- Share responsibility with the Project Director for monitoring and reporting project financial performance, including project setup; staffing plans; revenue and billing progress
- Track scope, schedule, and budget alignment throughout the project
- Draft scope and fee proposals, including Additional Services, in coordination with senior leadership
- Knowledgeable about project contracts and risk mitigation
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Manage day-to-day client communication with professionalism and clarity
- Align client goals and expectations with the project’s design vision
- Lead project meetings by setting clear agendas and documenting outcomes, decisions, and action items
- Obtain timely client feedback, direction, and approvals
- Communicate and resolve scope adjustments, including scope creep, schedule extensions, and additional services
- Navigate complex client organizations and multi-stakeholder environments
Team Leadership
- Strong communicator

Qualifications
What are we looking for?
- Approximately 8+ years of professional experience in architectural practice
- Architectural license required
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects through all phases, including construction administration
- Prior experience with global, design-focused firms preferred
- Strong design sensibility paired with rigorous technical and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
- Organized professional comfortable working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and international environment
- Available to work full time in person in New York, NY
- Fluent in English

Salary Transparency Statement
At Henning Larsen, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual base salary between $100,000 – $140,000. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
