Some North Texas airline travelers will soon be able to get Texas barbecue in the skies.

Starting in February, American Airlines will offer Pecan Lodge to first-class passengers on certain fligths as part of its centennial anniversary celebrations.

The longtime Dallas barbecue restaurant partnered with the Fort Worth-based airline to serve a plate with brisket burnt ends, smoked sausage, mac and cheese and coleslaw to travelers flying from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

“Pecan Lodge is a natural partner for us,” said Rhonda Crawford, American Airlines’ senior vice president of customer experience design and strategy. “They really represent Dallas and the Texas culinary scene. Our roots are in Texas and this is something that has that Texas flair.”

They chose flights to LaGuardia and JFK for the barbecue experience because of how pivotal those routes are, Crawford said.
