Colby Rhoden, 23, is accused of sexually abusing a young child over the course of several years, both in Jacksonville and Hilliard.

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla — A Jacksonville man accused of sexually abusing a young child over the course of several years, both in Jacksonville and Hilliard, was arrested Monday on multiple child sex abuse charges, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday.

Colby Garrett Rhoden, 23, faces two counts of sexual battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious battery.

NCSO said its investigation revealed that the alleged abuse began when the victim was a young child, and continued over several years. Investigators determined the incidents initially occurred in Jacksonville and later continued in Hilliard.

According to NCSO, the victim told investigators in October 2024 that the abuse continued after Rhoden turned 18.

NCSO said the victim described one incident of abuse to them. The victim reportedly told investigators that on one occasion, Rhoden invited the victim into a room to watch television with him, which was when he would isolate them and commit the abuse. The victim stated they were “too afraid to refuse.”

Rhoden was taken into custody Monday and booked into the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center on a bond exceeding $100,000, NCSO said.
