Phoenix Public Library invites families with children entering kindergarten in fall 2026 to participate in Kindergarten Bootcamp, a free, interactive school readiness program designed to help children and their caregivers feel confident and prepared for the transition to school.

Kindergarten children playing with colorful building blocks. Healthy learning environment. Learning through play.

Kindergarten Bootcamp is a seven-week series that meets once a week and gives families a preview of the kindergarten experience. Through hands-on activities, children and caregivers learn together while building the social, academic, and classroom skills essential for school success. Each session encourages families to grow, learn, and play together in a supportive, engaging environment.

Families receive free take-home tools and activities to continue learning at home. At the end of the series, participants are invited to celebrate their accomplishments at a special Kindergarten Bootcamp Graduation.

The program is offered at a variety of dates, times, and locations across the city. Registration is required, and families who register are expected to attend all seven weeks.

Families whose children are not entering kindergarten in fall 2026 are encouraged to explore Tools for School, Phoenix Public Library’s school readiness program for children ages 3–5 and their caregivers.

Support for early literacy programs is provided by a grant from First Things First, which partners with families and communities to give all Arizona children the opportunity to arrive at kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed.
