Love, lust, laughter, and liquor are back on tap in downtown Phoenix as “Drunk Romeo & Juliet” returns.

The twist on Shakespeare’s most iconic love story will run for a limited engagement through May 9, delivering romance on the rocks, sword fights with swagger, and tragedy turned hysterical.

Presented by the Drunk Shakespeare Society, “Drunk Romeo & Juliet” features one professional actor who downs more than five shots of alcohol before diving headfirst into the world’s most famous tale of star-crossed lovers. The result is an experience where no two performances are ever the same.

Performances take place at The Rose Theatre, 455 N. Third St., Suite 1010, with the main entrance accessible via the valet entrance off North Third Street. Shows run Wednesday through Sunday at various times.
