PHOENIX — If you’re planning to drive in the downtown Tempe area this weekend, be prepared for detours due to this year’s first 2nd Sundays on Mill event.
The market will take over the streets this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those who visit the free event can attend make-and-take workshops, interactive art experiences, a kids market and creative projects by local artists throughout downtown Tempe.
There will be live music along Mill Avenue, a Volkswagen car show and 18 holes of mini golf. While supplies last, there will even be free flowers from the Arizona Flower Market. And, of course, there will also be Tempe street closures those in the city will have to plan around.
What Tempe streets will be closed due to 2nd Sundays on Mill?
The following street closures will go into effect at 6 a.m. Sunday:
- Mill Avenue will be closed between University Drive and Rio Salado Parkway in both directions.
- Fifth Street will be closed between Maple and Myrtle avenues in both directions.
- Sixth Street will be closed from Maple to Myrtle avenues in both directions.
- Seventh Street will be closed in both directions from Mill Avenue to Maple Avenue/Tower Drive.
These Tempe street closures will be in effect through 7 p.m. Sunday.
Additionally, streetcar service will only run between Dorsey Lane and Apache Boulevard and Ninth and Mill streets from the start of service on Saturday until 4 a.m. on Monday.
Also, those planning to use public transit during the upcoming 2nd Sundays on Mill event should be aware that various bus detours will be in effect. Thus, you should expect delays when riding in a bus traveling in downtown Tempe this Sunday.
