Nightly closures begin Tuesday, Jan. 13, affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes of SH 183 between North Nicholas Street and Decatur Avenue.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Drivers who rely on State Highway 183, also known as NE 28th Street, in Fort Worth should plan for overnight changes this week as construction work continues along the corridor.

Nightly closures begin Tuesday, Jan. 13, affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes of SH 183 between North Nicholas Street and Decatur Avenue. The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night and are expected to continue through Tuesday, Jan. 20, weather permitting.

During the overnight hours, crews will fully close this section of the roadway, meaning traffic will not be able to pass through. Drivers will be directed onto signed detour routes while work is underway. Because the road is completely shut down during the closure window, delays are possible even outside of typical rush hours.

The work is part of ongoing improvements along the SH 183 corridor, which has seen increased construction activity in recent years as transportation agencies address safety, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term traffic demands. Overnight closures allow crews to work more efficiently and safely while minimizing impacts during the busiest daytime travel periods.

Drivers who normally use SH 183 late at night or early in the morning should allow extra time and consider alternate routes ahead of their trip. Detours may include additional turns and unfamiliar streets, which can slow travel, especially for those commuting before sunrise.

Traveling before 9 p.m. or after 6 a.m. remains the best option for avoiding detours and delays.

As with most construction projects, the schedule is weather-dependent, and conditions could impact overnight work.
