Major traffic disruptions as Loop 1604 closes for weekend construction on Northwest Side

SAN ANTONIO – Heads up on some major construction this weekend that could be a problem when it comes to traffic on the Northwest Side.

All weekend long Texas Department of Transportation will be shutting down both directions on the main lanes of Loop 1604 at the intersection with I-10. This stretches between La Cantera Parkway and Vance Jackson. The frontage road will remain open.

Meanwhile, on I-10 the opposite is true. Main lanes remain open through the weekend, while the frontage road will be closed.

It will open back up 5 a.m. Monday morning at which point Loop 1604 eastbound to westbound U-turn will be closed. That’s a long-term closure there. It won’t reopen until January 2026.
