BOW, Wash. — An injured bald eagle was rescued from a precarious position in Skagit County, thanks to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Police and the Burlington Fire Department.

The eagle was found hanging upside down from a tree in the Bow area of Skagit County.

WDFW Police Officer Ludwig used the fire department’s truck ladder to reach the distressed bird. He carefully wrapped the eagle in his patrol jacket and safely brought it down from the tree. The eagle appeared to have an injured leg.

WDFW Police Sgt. Valentine took the eagle to the Whatcom Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for evaluation and treatment.
