PHOENIX — Crews responded to a fire that sparked at a vacant home in Phoenix early Saturday morning, and investigators are working to find what caused it.

At around 3 a.m., firefighters were sent to the area of 51st Avenue and Thomas Road following reports of a structure fire, according to a release from a Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson. Crews later determined the site of the fire was a vacant residential home.

Upon arrival, smoke could be seen coming from the roofline of a home, and a ladder company was sent to the roof to provide vertical ventilation, the spokesperson said.
