The 1995 blockbuster Braveheart sees Mel Gibson play legendary Scots freedom fighter Sir William Wallace
Eagle-eyed viewers have now spotted a mistake which somehow made its way to the final edit
One scene hilariously featured a passer-by with a baseball cap in the background
The 1995 blockbuster saw Mel Gibson play legendary Scots freedom fighter Sir William Wallace.
It followed the warrior leading his fellow countrymen in a rebellion against the rule of King Edward I of England, following the tragedy of his wife’s murder.
The Oscar-winning flick, which is dubbed as a historical drama, is set in the 1300’s but a very modern blunder see’s the factual illusion shattered.
The movie mistake takes place in one of Mel’s scenes with Brendan Gleeson – who plays fellow warrior Hamish.
CRAVE TART!
Mel Gibson has put on so much weight he was told to STOP eating to play Santa
Surrounded by a hoard of Scotsmen, fans noticed an unfamiliar figure in the background of one of the shots.
Behind Mel and a line-up of three warriors is a passer-by who walks through the scene in a baseball cap and coat.
Presumably a member of the crew, the detail clearly doesn’t belong in a film of that time period.
The clip, which has since resurfaced on TikTok has left fans reeling with one user uploading the video, alongside the caption: ”Watching BRAVEHEART..
“How tf do they just leave a random guy in a BASEBALL CAP and coat in the FILM?!? It’s supposed to be 1297.”
Fans flocked to the comments to share reaction to the movie mishap, one user said: “Omg. How have I never spotted that before.”
“Never caught this. Seen the movie at least 20 times,” added a second.
A third penned: “This is one of my favourite films and I’ve probably watched it near on a hundred times in my life. Never noticed this! Good spot.”
“I’ve been too busy watching Mel all these years to notice (laughing emoji),” wrote a fourth.
The extra cast member is among a myriad of historical blunders that are shown in the iconic flick.

Then there’s the fact Mel Gibson’s character wears a kilt – a garment not invented until the 16th century.
