An intersection in a northwestern suburb of Chicago remained closed Saturday hours after a pedestrian was struck by a driver, authorities said.

Around 6:26 a.m., driver struck a pedestrian at the intersection of South Cumberland Avenue and Peterson Avenue in Park Ridge, police said.

Park Ridge Police said the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, though it was not specified what condition they were in.

The intersection remained closed as of 11:40 a.m. for the police investigation, authorities said.
