The woman had sustained an injury to her “lower extremity” and was not able to continue with her hike, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

PHOENIX — A woman was rescued from Camelback Mountain after sustaining an injury while hiking Saturday morning.

At around 10:45 a.m., technical rescue teams responded to the Maricopa County mountain after receiving reports about an injured hiker, according to a release from the Phoenix Fire Department. 

The woman had sustained an injury to her “lower extremity” and was not able to continue with her hike, the release says.

The Phoenix Fire team then coordinated with the department’s Firebird 10 helicopter to transport the woman off the mountain.

She was later evaluated and taken to a hospital to receive additional treatment, according to the release.
