Virginia Tech went into the portal window with a clear need to elevate the edge rusher position. Moments ago, they added another young edge rusher that brings eligibility to the table in Mylachi Williams.

The Penn State transfer appeared in five games for Penn State in 2025. He recorded one tackle, and Pro Football Focus credited him with three quarterback pressures. He played 35 defensive snaps against Nevada, FIU, Michigan State, Nebraska and Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl.

The 6-foot-3, 248-pound Williams didn’t appear in a game during his redshirt season in 2024. He was named the Developmental Squad Defensive Player of the Week on four occasions.

Penn State signed Williams out of Drexel Hill (Pa.) Monsignor Bonner in the Class of 2024. He was rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports, and he was ranked as the No. 12 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 41 edge nationally.
