Public Works drains San Antonio River for clean-up and maintenance

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — It’s clean-up time for a stretch of the San Antonio River.

San Antonio’s Public Works Department says crews are draining a portion of the river in order to remove sediment and debris.

They will also do inspections to ensure the channel’s integrity and make necessary repairs.

The area being drained starts at West Josephine Street to South Alamo Street. This includes the River Loop downtown.

While the clean up is underway, there are no planned road or trail closures.

The work is part of the River Walk Maintenance Program and is expected to be wrapped up by Monday, January 19.
