A man was rescued from a Houston-area sewer early Monday after being trapped there for several days, according to the office of Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

Deputies responded to reports of a man screaming for help and then used drones to conduct a ground search, during which they located a man trapped inside a sewer in the 16400 block of North Mist Drive in north Houston, according to Herman’s office.

Herman’s office wrote in a social media post that the man had apparently been trapped there for several days and was rescued with the assistance of the Ponderosa Fire Department. The man was then transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, according to the constable’s office, which said the incident is under investigation.

In a drone video posted by Herman’s office, the man can be seen standing up inside a hole in the sewer system. The man can also be seen walking with firefighters toward emergency vehicles after being rescued.

It was not immediately clear Monday how the man ended up in the sewer.
