Slippery roads stemming from freezing rain made for challenging driving conditions in Winnipeg on Sunday.

Police responded to several incidents that took place, including a four-vehicle collision at the intersection of Kenaston Boulevard and Scurfield Drive shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to an email from police.

One person was assessed by paramedics, but they didn’t need to go to the hospital, police said.

Earlier on Sunday, around 10:40 a.m., officers responded to the rapid transit area on Osborne Street, near Corydon Avenue, for a truck that had crashed inside.

The driver fled but there were no injuries reported, police said in a separate email.

Police are investigating the collision.

Multiple vehicles were also involved in an accident Sunday morning at the corner of Stafford Street and Corydon Avenue.

Officers responded to the incident, which resulted in a transit sign being taken down.

Environment and Climate Change Canada had issued a yellow warning over freezing rain in parts of the province earlier in the day.

The federal agency said roads were likely to become slippery and impact traffic.

Multiple highways across southeastern parts of the province, as well as into the Interlake area, closed for periods of time Sunday due to slippery conditions.
