A beloved Florida weatherman has been fired without any explanation after 10 years on the air leaving fans outraged.
Matt Devitt was removed from his position as Chief Meteorologist of Fort Meyer’s WINK News on January 8, according to an update he posted on Facebook.
‘This decision was not one that I expected or agreed with and was not given the opportunity to say goodbye on-air,’ wrote the 37-year-old.
The father-of-two added that the news was a complete shock to him, his family and coworkers.
The bombshell rocked fans as well, who have relentlessly called on WINK for answers while demanding his reinstatement.
WINK News refused to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail and had not released a reason for Devitt’s firing as of Tuesday.
Despite the father being let go, Devitt remembered his career with the news outlet as an honor and said it was a privilege to serve the community, especially during major hurricanes like Irma, Helene, and Milton.
‘I always gave you everything I had with one goal in mind: keeping you safe and informed without the hype,’ wrote the meteorologist.
