North Texans may disagree with the temperature gauge Wednesday, as strong wind gusts could make it feel much colder.

The high is expected to reach 62 degrees, about six degrees above normal for mid-January. But a cold front is headed our way, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, which will bring gusty winds to the region throughout the day.

The breeze should be between 15 and 20 miles per hour in the afternoon, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour possible.

This front isn’t expected to bring rain, though, so clear skies and sunshine may help temper some of the gusty chill.

Temperatures are expected to fall to the mid-30s Wednesday night at DFW International Airport. The cold front isn’t expected to be particularly strong, though, and is only forecast to drop the high by four degrees on Thursday.

Another cold front should move across the region on Friday, keeping temperatures seasonably chilly through the weekend.
