The Texas Longhorns landed Texas A&M interior offensive lineman Jonte Newman out of the transfer portal on Wednesday, he confirmed to Horns247. The former 2025 recruit from Bridgeland was a target of UT’s in the high school process as well.
“Texas has always been my dream school,” Newman said after a visit to Texas going into his junior season. “I just love to be here.
“They make you feel at home. They were just telling me like this is a great program to be at and how good it was.”
“I always loved watching them. My dad actually went here.”
Newman didn’t play during his freshman season in College Station. He’ll have four years of eligibility remaining.
Newman has not yet been ranked by 247Sports in the transfer portal yet.
The 6-foot-4, 331-pounder from Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland ranked as the No. 25 interior offensive lineman in the country out of high school, per 247Sports.
