PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Rescuers airlifted two hikers off Piestewa Peak late Thursday after they got lost, and one was injured.
Fire crews responded just after 10:30 p.m. to a report that a man and woman had lost the trail while hiking. They found the pair about 300 yards off the main path near the base of the mountain.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the woman told crews she slipped, injured herself and couldn’t make the climb back down.
Rescue teams used a helicopter to hoist both hikers off the mountain shortly after midnight. Paramedics took them to a hospital for evaluation.
