The Navy has awarded Naval Base San Diego the Shore Battle Efficiency, or Battle E, award for outstanding performance for the fleet, its fighters and its families.

The base provided “world-class operational support to 58 afloat tenants and 251 ashore commands,” the Navy said in a statement. “(And it) managed over 1,300 ship movements and welcomed more than 13 million personnel, while also making significant quality-of-life and sustainability upgrades.”

The base is the largest Navy installation in the Pacific and routinely dispatches surface ships and submarines to the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East. It’s the home port of three aircraft carriers, including the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is currently patrolling the South China Sea.
