The class was being held in another part of the country, BCSO said. Authorities then contacted local law enforcement, who started to investigate.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been accused of soliciting a minor online after chatting and trying to meet up with who he thought was a 14-year-old, according to Bexar County officials.

Gerardo Moreno-Alvarado, 33, faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor. He was taken into custody Friday afternoon.

BCSO says the case came to them from the U.S. Secret Service, which was teaching a course in another part of the country on how to catch an online predator. During that very course, an online predator from the San Antonio area reached out to one of the undercover agents who was posing as a 14-year-old.

The case was then handed over to an undercover BCSO investigator Thursday, who continued to pose as the girl, eventually planning a meetup at Pearsall Park on Friday afternoon. That’s where they say Moreno-Alvarado was detained without incident.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the man does not have a criminal history and works in the food service industry, later adding he is a bartender.

BCSO doesn’t believed there are any other victims, “but anything is possible.” Sheriff Salazar went on to say that he wouldn’t be surprised if this was his first time attempting to solicit a minor.
