Chicago Bears game Sunday: Fans rallying behind Bears with bagels, beer ahead of playoff game against Los Angeles Rams

CHICAGO (WLS) — From the city to the suburbs, Chicago is getting ready to Bear Down this weekend when the Rams come to town.

On this playoff weekend, the city is decked out in orange and navy blue. Bears fans are letting the Rams know the the writing’s on the wall.

“We’re gonna get it. I mean, this is our weather,” Bears fan Leanne Piper said. “This is not their weather. It’s our weather. This is Chicago.”

Revolution Brewing is hosting a Sunday watch party while an Oak Park bagel shop is baking something special, and there are many more festivities and food specials being offered.

On a snowy and cold morning, Oak Park’s The Daly Bagel was not letting the winter weather get in the way of building hype ahead of the Bears’ Sunday playoff game.

“I mean I’m hoping Bear down,” Sophia Hannah of The Daly Bagel said. “Hoping it’s a big win. We’re really hyped.”

The local bakery made colorful and festive Bears rainbow bagels, a swirl of orange, blue and white being baked up by the batch.

And with the team’s success this season, as you can imagine, the bagels have been wildly popular.

“People come in everyday asking for them,” Hannah said. “By at least by 12, they are all gone.”

Revolution Brewing has plenty of drink specials for fans this Sunday, with $5 pints and $20 pitchers. Doors open at 12 p.m.

Mi Corazón Cafe in Pilsen is getting in on the action with a Bears-themed horchata espresso that is already a customer favorite.

“Almost every other customer comes in or they’ll call and ask if we still have it, ’cause I just had it for last weekend but decided to bring it back this weekend,” said Xiomara Casas with Mi Corazón Cafe.

Fans are rallying behind the Chicago Bears with bagels, beer and more ahead of their next playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

At Manny’s Deli in the South Loop, between bites of pastrami, fans were prognosticating a Bears victory.

“It’s kind of been scary, but it’s… I think it’s our time now,” Bears fan Creative Scott said. “I think it’s our time now, so I’m excited.”

The Bears inspiring restaurants across the city, including the vodka and Red Bull “Bears Bomb” at Gracie O’Malley’s in Wicker Park.

“Not even just the Bears games, it’s every day,” Gracie O’Malley’s co-owner K.J. Johnson said. “People are coming in and just wearing Bears stuff and just excited about it.”

The feeling for the team is also crossing borders international. James Gardiner lives in Australia, but for decades has loved the Bears. He’s making the 22-hour trip for Sunday’s game and is staying in Chicago for less than 48 hours.

“I can’t get time off from work, so I’ll be leaving Monday at 1:15 from O’Hare, but I’m just excited to be at the game,” Gardiner said. “I want to come out. I want to support the guys. I want to say thank you for the year that they’ve given.”

And if fans’ hearts aren’t beating fast enough, just wait until the National Anthem, when Blackhawks anthem singer Jim Cornelison ushers in the game with Star Spangled glory.

“Just come out, participate, and let’s, let’s just make it the best experience we can make it, really hype up everybody in the building, the players,” Cornelison said.

And with brutally cold temperatures expected at kickoff 5:30 p.m. Sunday, it’s no surprise that you’re going to see far fewer Los Angeles Rams fans at Soldier Field.

“Nobody is coming from LA. Would you leave 85 to come here for sub zero?” Steve Buzil of SitClose Tickets said.

Buzil said there is plenty of ticket availability, though a seat at Sunday’s NFC Divisional game is still going to cost you. Tickets cost anywhere from $400 to well over $1,000.

“It’s definitely a buyers’ market” Buzil said. “I believe the best time to buy is today, tomorrow at the latest. Sunday you’re going to get that pus from all those people who have been waiting.”

If you’re looking at going to the big game. Steve says now is the time to buy.

“It’ll be sold out,” Buzil said. “It’s just a matter at what price.”
