ACS needs help caring for animals taken after deadly Hill Country floods

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The loss of human life is no secret after devastating floods in the Hill Country on Friday, but another story less visible is the animals lost.

Through the tragic event, a number of pets are making their way to San Antonio under all kinds of circumstances, and your help is needed to care for them.

Animal Care Services (ACS) is asking for volunteers to help walk dogs and to assemble transport kennels before some dogs are transferred to other partners around Texas.

The times in which ACS needs help are as follows:

  • Thursday, July 10 – 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Friday, July 11 – Early morning.

ACS is also asking for dog and cat food, collars and leashes. Donations are being accepted at the facility located at 4710 State Hwy 151, San Antonio, TX 78227. The shelters hours are as follows:

  • Monday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
