The Los Angeles Rams don’t reside in a cold-weather climate like the Chicago Bears do, so they had to take some extra measures to stay warm in the Windy City on Sunday night. During NBC’s broadcast, it was revealed how the Rams are ensuring the cold doesn’t become a factor – and they’re not the most conventional methods.
The team traveled with more than 2,000 pounds of cold-weather equipment from Los Angeles to Chicago, staying prepared for anything and everything. They have heaters on the sidelines and cameras showed jugs of chicken broth and hot chocolate on the Rams’ sideline, too.
Matthew Stafford is wearing a scuba suit under his jersey, which Sean McVay said he planned to adapt for this game, too, a way to keep warm without getting too bundled up to limit mobility and functionality.
The NBC broadcast revealed that players put cayenne pepper in their socks, too. Yes, seriously.
The temperature at kickoff was around 19 degrees with 13 mph winds and a feels-like temperature of 9 degrees, so it was warmer than anticipated.
