Your Weather Planner

We’ll finally see the sunshine again on our Thursday afternoon. No rain is expected. Friday will be much the same. Unfortunately, moisture works its way back into the forecast this weekend, leading to an uptick in rain chances Saturday and Sunday. We are still fine-tuning the timing of potential weekend storms.

Today’s Big Stories

1. Harrowing stories of rescue emerge from Texas floods as crews search for over 160 reported missing

As the search in Texas continued Wednesday for more than 160 people believed to be missing days after a destructive wall of water killed over 100 people, the full extent of the catastrophe had yet to be revealed as officials warned that unaccounted for victims could still be found amid the massive piles of debris that stretch for miles.

2. Questions mount over Texas flash flood warnings, response

The large and growing death toll from the flash flooding in Texas has touched off a debate about whether budget cuts by President Donald Trump’s administration to the National Weather Service contributed to the magnitude of the disaster. The U.S. Senate’s top Democrat, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, is demanding the administration answer whether staffing shortages contributed to the “catastrophic loss of life.” But the White House is pushing back.

3. ‘It’s just been an outpouring’: Kerr County residents moved by support from fellow Texans as they try to rebuild

David Carbajal and his wife were staying at River Run Campground in Kerrville when it flooded. Carbajal said this is just the beginning of a very long road to rebuilding, but having Texans standing by his side gives him strength to move forward.

“It’s just been an outpouring of friends and family just wanting to come help, saying ‘tell me what you want me to do,’” said Carbajal.
