During an episode of the ‘Cam & Strick’ podcast, NHL analyst Andy Strickland revealed some concerning circumstances around how former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner landed with the Vegas Golden Knights. The Mitch Marner era with the Toronto Maple Leafs officially came to a close just over a week ago, as he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights and signed an 8-year contract with the club.

But there has been some concerning new information released about how Marner came to land with Vegas, once again raising the question about whether the Golden Knights could potentially face penalties from the NHL for alleged tampering.

During an episode of the ‘Cam & Strick’ podcast, NHL analyst Andy Strickland said that he was told by an anonymous NHL player that not only had Marner been openly talking about playing for the Golden Knights for a year now, but that he also discussed it during the 4 Nations Faceoff in February.

Ryan Reaves, who is currently with the Maple Leafs organization and previously played for the Golden Knights, also joined the ‘Cam & Strick’ podcast and said he believed his former Leafs teammate Marner had earned the right to go where he pleased.

Mitchy earned the right to go wherever he wants, and he’s dedicated his whole career to Toronto, a hometown guy, and he’s poured everything he had into it, and sometimes it’s just time to move on. There’s not much else to say about that. I’m happy for him. He deserved the contract he got. Wish him the best here for sure.

There are more than a few fans who want to see the NHL investigate the Golden Knights for alleged tampering, but whether or not they get their wish remains to be seen.
