PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker is locked in the Valley at least through the end of the decade.
The shooting guard agreed on Wednesday to a two-year, $145 million max contract extension with the franchise. It’s the highest annual extension in NBA history. The deal was first reported by ESPN.
The deal also means Booker will stay in Phoenix through the 2029-2030 season. The four-time All-Star will now have a total of five years and $316 million on his Suns contract.
Last season was a down year for Booker, where he averaged 25.6 points on 46.1% shooting, with 4.1 rebounds but a career-high 7.1 assists per game.
Since the Suns drafted him No. 13 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, he’s the franchise’s all-time leader in points and three-pointers, fourth in assists and second in playoff 3s. Booker also helped lead the Suns to the NBA Finals in 2021.
The previous record holder for the highest annual extension salary belonged to Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s four-year, $285 million deal that he signed eight days ago on July 1.
