The AFC Championship game will be somewhat of a revenge game for Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
Stidham, who is filling in for an injured Bo Nix, will start against the New England Patriots, the team that originally selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft out of Auburn. Stidham was originally thought to be a potential successor to Tom Brady, but he ended up never starting a single game for New England and was eventually traded to the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 offseason.

When asked about playing his old team, Stidham only had complimentary things to say about the Pats.
“At the end of the day, obviously, I’m very appreciative of New England for giving me a shot in this league, drafting me,” Stidham said after Wednesday’s practice. “Bill [Belichick] is not there anymore, but I know there are still front office guys there that were there when I was there. Nick Caserio is down in Houston now, the G.M. He was a big part of that too. Josh McDaniels, who obviously was my play caller. I’ve only had two play callers in my life, Sean [Payton] and Josh. I’m super appreciative of them for sure, but really just fired up for the opportunity for these guys in this locker room. We’re looking forward to Sunday, and getting out there and seeing what we got.”
No headliners or airing of grievances, just appreciation for his first NFL opportunity, followed by focusing on preparing for Sunday’s game. A smart approach for Stidham ahead of his showdown with New England.
