A new $500 million hotel will join the Entertainment District as Loews Hotels & Co announced their third Arlington offering Thursday.

Alex Tisch, the president and CEO of Loews Hotels & Co, said in a news release that the planned Americana by Loews Hotels marks an important achievement for the company and reinforces its footprint in the city.

“This project reflects our strong belief in Arlington as a dynamic destination and our confidence in its continued growth,” Tisch said.

Americana, which will feature 507 guest rooms as well as indoor and outdoor meeting/event spaces, will replace the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and open in 2029.

Plans to demolish the Sheraton hotel were approved by the City Council in 2023, making way for the new Loews addition.

In early December, the Sheraton hotel’s management filed a notice to the state of its closure, with the filing noting that 110 employees will be laid off.

The Americana’s name is derived from the Americana Hotel in Bal Harbour, Florida, that was built in the 1950s by the Tisch family, who now runs the Loews Corporation.

Currently, the company has two hotels next to Globe Life Stadium, the Loews Arlington Hotel and Live! by Loews.

Tisch told The Dallas Morning News that the company plans to invest more than $500 million into the new project.

Americana is expected to bring in about $3.1 billion in economic impact over the next 30 years, according to KERA News.

The Sheraton hotel ceases business in February. A demolition event will be held in early June, according to the news release.
