Famed artificial intelligence researcher Richard Socher is in talks to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for a new startup called Recursive that’s focused on building more advanced AI systems, according to people familiar with the matter.
The financing would value Recursive at roughly $4 billion, not including the money put in, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private information. GV, formerly Google Ventures, and VC firm Greycroft are in discussions to lead the funding round, the people said. The talks are ongoing and the details could change.
