According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is not expected to improve its offer to center-back Dayot Upamecano. Per previous reports, it is believed that Bayern Munich’s proposal include a salary worth €20 million, a signing bonus worth €20 million, and a release clause able to be triggered as early as 2028. Meanwhile, Upamecano’s camp wants the release clause to be activated in 2027.
The fee for the release has been rumored to be €65 million. Regardless, Plettenberg is reporting that the current standoff is likely due to the Bavarians considering their latest proposal to be a “best and final offer” (BAFO):
Bayern will definitely not improve their contract offer to Dayot Upamecano. It’s a final ‘take it or leave it’ offer. There’s no deadline yet, but Bayern want a quick decision in order to go ahead with their squad plans.
If Upamecano does not accept Bayern Munich’s terms, it is expected that he will move on as a free agent after the season. This could affect the status of fellow center-back Kim Min-jae and the club’s plans to add another central defender.
