The winter storm hitting North Texas is shrinking hours at busy retail sites in and around the region.
NorthPark Center, one of the biggest shopping hubs in North Texas, delayed its opening to noon on Saturday and is set to close earlier, at 6 p.m., according to a message on its website, but individual store and restaurant hours will vary. The Dallas mall typically opens at 10 a.m.
For groceries, H-E-B said it’s limiting its hours this weekend at sites throughout the region with stores set to close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, according to the company. Also, the stores are slated to open later in the morning, at 8 a.m.
Kroger is shrinking hours in North Texas as well. Stores will close earlier on Saturday — at 8 p.m. instead of 11 p.m., according to John Votava, spokesperson. On Sunday, the hours are set to be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Several Sam’s Club were listed as closed at about 1 p.m., including sites in Irving and Plano, according to a store status website. Some Walmart Neighborhood Markets in places such as Arlington and Sherman were cited as closed as well.
The region is grappling with a winter storm that is paralyzing activity in the area with freezing precipitation on its roads, discouraging shoppers from heading out to stores. An extreme cold warning was issued for Saturday through Monday.
Ikea, the furniture and home goods giant, has made the decision to close Saturday in Grand Prairie and in Frisco, according to posts on its website, citing the weather.

Other busy retail centers aside from NorthPark are also cutting back on hours. That includes Grapevine Mills, Hulen Mall in Fort Worth and Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, with all planning to close at 5 p.m., according to their individual websites.
Legacy West in Plano said Saturday morning on Instagram that store and restaurant hours may vary due to inclement weather. It also noted shoppers should contact retailers directly for operating hours.

Galleria Dallas has opted to allow each retailer to make its own decision on hours, it said. The shopping center will support tenants for normal business hours, but visitors should contact stores directly for information on hours.
Highland Park Village also said store and restaurant hours could vary amid the storm.
And there are other grocers cutting hours. Tom Thumb and Albertsons are opening later and closing earlier this in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Saturday and Sunday.
