A Philadelphia man is being held after an argument between friends escalated into a stabbing with a box cutter.
Rudy Ramirez, 27, of the 5400 block of Locust Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness.
The victim was transported to Lankenau Medical Center for treatment from cuts on his left side, stomach and back.
Upper Darby police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said the victim was released from the hospital after receiving stitches.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called at 10:08 p.m. for the stabbing in Penn Pines Park in the Aldan section of Upper Darby.
On scene, police made contact with the victim and pointed to the man who stabbed him. The box cutter was found in the creek bed. A witness also identified Ramirez, who was then arrested by police, according to the criminal complaint.
Ramirez was arraigned before District Judge Lee Cullen Grimes, who set a monetary bail of 10 percent of $500,000, which Ramirez was been unable to post and committed to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
Ramierez is scheduled to appear before District Judge Kelly A. Micozzie-Aguirre on July 15 for a preliminary hearing.
