North Florida shines under Coach Kennen with a thrilling 117-114 OT victory over Bellarmine, marked by record performances from Oriol and Jackson.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — North Florida looks to be finding its groove under first-year head coach Bobby Kennen. The Ospreys picked up their second straight win and third in four games, with a thrilling 117-114 OT victory over Bellarmine at the UNF Arena on Saturday.
Off the back of his game-winner over Eastern Kentucky on Thursday, guard Kamrin Oriol once again came in clutch, scoring a career-high 33 points and 15 assists.
Oriol is the first Osprey ever to record a game with 30 or more points and 10 or more assists. His 15 dishes also marked the second most in a single game in program history. The double-double for Oriol was the first for North Florida this season and the first of the senior’s career.
Sophomore Kent Jackson put up 27 points on 9-15 from three in 40 minutes. The guard has now scored 20 or more points in four games this season. The nine threes by Jackson marked a career-high and the most by an Osprey since Jose Placer made 10 threes against Kennesaw State on Jan. 5, 2023.
Five total Ospreys scored in double digits in the OT win.
The 231 combined points marked the highest single-game total in ASUN Conference history.
North Florida remains at UNF Arena to host Stetson on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. ET.
