HOUSTON, Texas – As freezing temperatures persist across the state, the reliability of Texas’ power grid remains a top concern.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the state’s main power grid, is closely monitoring electricity supply and demand in real time through its online dashboard.
As of Monday morning, ERCOT reports the grid is operating under normal conditions.
ERCOT’s dashboard uses a color-coded system to show grid status.
Green indicates normal operations, while a shift to yellow would signal tighter conditions that could require conservation measures.
Current projections show electricity supply is expected to meet demand, but officials warn that could change as cold weather continues.
With forecasts calling for a prolonged stretch of below-freezing temperatures, ERCOT expects demand to rise as Texans rely more heavily on heating.
In response, ERCOT has issued a Weather Watch through Tuesday, a step that signals increased coordination with power generators and transmission companies to ensure grid reliability during extreme conditions.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and be mindful of energy use as the cold weather continues.
