This elegant penthouse duplex on top of the landmarked Carlyle Hotel — once known as the New York White House because of its ties to President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis — has found a buyer.
The classic co-op on the 34th floor was last asking $12.99 million. Its final sale price is not yet known.
The seller is billionaire Karen Pritzker, who paid just $12.5 million for the property when she bought it with her late husband, investor Michael Vlock, back in 2007, according to records.

The residence is where the presidential couple stayed before JFK’s 1961 presidential inauguration and was reserved for them when they visited New York during the “Camelot” years.
It is also were JFK is rumored to have met with Marilyn Monroe. (The actress died of an overdose in August of 1962; JFK was assassinated in November of 1963.)
The signed contract was first mentioned in the Olshan Report. The two-bedroom, 2.5-bath penthouse comes with a 23-foot terrace.
Past owners of the penthouse also included banker Henry Kravis, according to reports.

Located at 35 E. 76th St., the penthouse is in the heart of the Upper East Side and boasts charming views of Central Park and the reservoir. In 1994, the reservoir was renamed the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir to honor the former First Lady for her contributions to the city and her love for the area.
The elegant aerie also comes with the Kennedys’ personal touches and exquisite taste — thanks to Jackie.

For example, the Kennedys installed an oriel bay window overlooking the park to create a breakfast nook, which also features a custom bookshelf. Currently, the custom kitchen is hidden via pocket doors, and is adjacent to a pantry/laundry room.
A large foyer is anchored by a windowed, curved staircase with an Art Deco railing. The foyer opens to a corner living/dining room with a wet bar and views of Central Park, the reservoir and the city skyline.
Upstairs, there’s a small terrace and a corner solarium with a wet bar, accessed from the 35th-floor landing.
A large primary bedroom suite comes with a spa-like windowed bath dressed with onyx finishes. A second bedroom also comes with an ensuite bath and opens to the terrace.
Amenities for the co-op owner include maid service and access to hotel amenities, including a gym, a spa, dining room service, a valet, a hair salon, and venues including the famed Bemelmans Bar and Cafe Carlyle.
