The Los Angeles Planning Department has launched a new one-stop shop for planning and zoning services, officials announced Tuesday.
“The launch of the new Development Services Bureau is the result of thoughtful and collaborative preparation between City Planning and Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety,” Vince Bertoni, director of planning, said in a statement.
“The reorganization enables more integrated planning and zoning review processes, streamlines the customer experience, and ultimately serves to further the development of the city in line with adopted programs,” Bertoni added.
A key component of the bureau is the transfer of zoning review of the plan check process from LADBS to City Planning, according to officials, which they say will allow customers to work with just one department during zoning implementation.
“The Department of Building and Safety, and City Planning will continue to collaborate closely to ensure a smooth and effective transition,” Osama Younan, general manager of LADBS, said in a statement.
The new bureau will involve the existing Development Service Centers Division, the Office of Zoning Administration, and consultation services available to support the needs of specific industries.
The expedited processing section will remain within the Project Planning Bureau. The transferring of the zoning review division will oversee zoning plan check and other requirements related to zoning implementation.
