PORTLAND, Ore. — We’re expecting a major announcement about Portland’s incoming WNBA team on Tuesday, which will likely include the team’s official name.

WNBA Portland is inviting people to visit the Moda Center from 3-5 p.m. on July 15 for the official “Launch Party” – with a brand reveal, star appearances, exclusive merch and more.

“You’re part of this team’s story from the very beginning — and we want you there for this unforgettable milestone,” WNBA Portland said in a social media post.

The team on Thursday shared details about a new partnership with Brandlive, which is an enterprise video platform headquartered in Portland.

WNBA Portland said they will deliver behind-the-scenes content in the lead-up to the team’s 2026 tip-off, which includes signing day celebrations.

Brandlive’s logo will appear on the yet-to-be-named Portland team’s practice jerseys as part of the collaboration.

The partnership will debut during the inaugural Global Women’s Sports Epicenter Week, which is a weeklong celebration beginning July 23 that spotlights Portland as a hub of women’s sports.

“WNBA Portland is more than just a team – it’s a reflection of the passion and pride that lives in this city,” said Clare Hamill, WNBA Portland Interim President. “Brandlive’s storytelling expertise and deep Portland roots make them the perfect partner to help us share this journey with the Rose City and beyond. Together, we’re creating a dynamic, digital front row for our fans, one that will capture every milestone as we bring professional women’s basketball back to Portland.”

In September 2024, the league announced that a franchise would be returning to the Rose City for the 2026 season.

Portland will be joined by a new expansion franchise in Toronto, becoming the 15th and 16th teams in the WNBA.
