Marin Cilic is a Grand Slam champion, having won the US Open in 2014, defeating Kei Nishikori in the final to lift the trophy on Arthur Ashe.
Cilic has 21 ATP Tour titles to his name and has reached a career high of world number three, which he achieved in January 2018.
He has been a giant in an era dominated by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, each of whom he has defeated before.
Even in the twilight of his career, the Croatian is still in pursuit of titles, and has added another one to his name in Nottingham, where he has made tennis history.

In the final of an ATP Challenger event in Nottingham, Cilic defeated Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan to win the tournament.
In doing so, he became the oldest grass-court champion in Challenger history, at 36 years and eight months old.
He surpassed three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, who previously held the record, having won a Challenger event in Surbiton in 2023, aged 36.
After his triumph, Cilic will return to the ATP top 100 for the first time since August 2023, and will climb to 85th in the world.
Marin Cilic’s record at tour-level tournaments in 2025
Outside of his Challenger campaigns, Cilic had made four appearances at tour-level events this season.
The first of which came in February, where he played at the Qatar Open, bowing out in the first round after losing to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
He then entered the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he earned victories over second seed Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin, advancing to the quarter-finals.
Cilic was beaten by Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last eight in Dubai, despite forcing a third set against the Canadian.
After a first-round exit at the Madrid Open, the former US Open champion qualified for Roland Garros, where he was defeated by Flavio Cobolli in round one.
