The City of San Antonio is hosting 10 public forums seeking feedback on city code enforcement, with the second one happening tonight.
Described as a transparency effort in a news release announcing the listening sessions, the forums will be a place for residents to share their thoughts and experiences with code enforcement and answer questions and update residents on code processes.
The city plans to use the feedback to guide a strategic plan to improve services, communication and responsiveness.
This initiative began with a City Council consideration request in 2023 when former District 4 council member Adriana Rocha Garcia asked the council to consider a multi-phase plan for code compliance. Her request came after feedback from residents showed that half of respondents to a city survey said code enforcement services did not meet their needs or only met them halfway.
After internal input sessions earlier this year, the city is seeking public feedback.
Each City Council district will host a session, the first of which kicked off in District 3 on July 2.
A second session, in District 1, is tonight, and the others will take place through July 30.
