The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said several individuals were taken to the Police Memorial Building downtown to be interviewed.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died at a Jacksonville hospital Wednesday night after being shot on 103rd Street on the city’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Matthews said officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired near the 9800 block of 103rd Street around 7:45 p.m. While on the way, Matthews said JSO learned that the man had been taken to a local hospital in a “personal vehicle.”

According to Matthews, the man died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

As of Thursday, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. Matthews said several individuals were taken to the Police Memorial Building to be interviewed, as detectives with JSO’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are conducting an investigation into the incident along with the State Attorney’s Office.

“We believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the community,” Matthews said.
