SAN ANTONIO – Animal Care Services has stepped up and joined in on recovery efforts for communities throughout the Hill Country.
On Thursday, Councilman Rick Galvan joined with Animal Care Services to provide support for the Williamson County Animal Shelter, making room for displaced pets needing to be reunited with their families.
“Today was a powerful reminder of what community really means,” Councilmember Galvan said. “San Antonio came together to support not just our own local shelter, but also the families and animals impacted in the Hill Country. This is the kind of collaboration and compassion we need more of.”
The District 6 City Council office to help care for the transferred pets, support local shelter operations, and highlight the need for community support.
“Compassion is always amplified with collaboration, and we enjoyed working side by side with District 6 today to help these dogs and cats in need,” SAACS Director Jonathan Gary said. “While San Antonio pets will always be our first priority, we are proud to work with volunteers in our community who step up in times of crisis.”
Those looking to help are encouraged to become foster caregivers for pets in need, taking strains off of local shelters, or by contributing financially to rescue nonprofits and shelters.
