Healthcare workers at a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Los Angeles said they’re beyond disturbed after a hidden camera was discovered in an employee restroom.

Video from a staff member showed the camera was found embedded in the wall above a toilet’s flushometer.

The camera was found in November 2025 and following an investigation, the suspect, who also worked at the Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center, was arrested in connection with the case.

The suspect, who was not identified, is no longer employed with the company, a Kaiser spokesperson said.

On Jan. 29, around 30 victims, including emergency room nurses, announced plans to file a lawsuit against the hospital.

“They all are still working and certainly this was a traumatic event,” said Jamal Tooson, the attorney representing the victims. “The initial concern was the breach of trust, the violation. Who has seen the footage on the camera? Is it out on the internet somewhere?”

In a statement, a Kaiser Permanente spokesperson said in part:

“In November, we were shocked and deeply upset to learn that a hidden camera had been discovered in an employee restroom. We immediately reported the incident to the Los Angeles Police Department, which began an investigation right away, and we have remained in close coordination with law enforcement since that time.

Following the discovery, we conducted a comprehensive inspection of the affected area and confirmed that no additional devices were present. We also implemented targeted and ongoing security checks at this location, with plans to expand a broader security review program across our facilities.”

Tooson said his clients remain distraught, with their sense of safety and trust violated.

“There was a tremendous disappointment with the lack of transparency, with the lack of communication from Kaiser in terms of not only what steps they were taking against the individual who planted the camera, but what steps are they going to take in the future to prevent something like this from happening again?” Tooson said.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department and a Kaiser spokesperson said they remain in cooperation.
