Re “Local doctor’s mother guided her in providing service to community” (Jan. 19): Thank you for your tribute to Dr. Suzanne Afflalo. I knew Dr. Afflalo as my elderly mother’s primary care physician at Kaiser Permanente and was unaware of all of the additional advocacy work she has done and continues to do in the underserved community. I am not surprised by her continued generosity, given her obvious dedication to providing my mother comprehensive health care despite the very limited amount of time Kaiser allows for its physicians’ appointments.
