Caltrans schedules nighttime work and extended weekend reductions.
Motorists traveling through the Sepulveda Pass should expect overnight lane reductions and ramp closures this week as Caltrans continues pavement rehabilitation work along Interstate 405, transportation officials said.
The work is scheduled to take place nightly beginning after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, and concluding by 6 a.m. each morning through Friday, Feb. 6, and starts exactly one day after the previous round of three lane closures ends.
Caltrans said the closures are needed for electrical work and the installation of K-rail barriers.
During the overnight construction window, up to two lanes will be closed in both directions of the 405 through the Sepulveda Pass. Northbound lane reductions will occur between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive, as well as between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Sepulveda Boulevard. Southbound lane reductions will affect sections between U.S. 101 and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive and Wilshire Boulevard.

Several ramps will also be closed overnight, including the Getty Center Drive on-ramp to northbound I-405 and the Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramps to both northbound and southbound I-405.
Caltrans also announced extended weekend lane reductions beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9. During that period, northbound I-405 will be reduced to three lanes between just south of the Getty Center Drive off-ramp and just north of Bel Air Crest Road. The northbound off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will be closed.
Southbound I-405 will also be reduced to three lanes between the Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive on-ramp and the Getty Center Drive on-ramp during the extended weekend work.
Caltrans advised drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes when possible. Construction schedules remain subject to change based on weather or operational needs.
