I am suddenly very into hockey and, yes, it has so much to do with a certain TV show. But thanks to the show, I am now invested in one particular player; well, actually, his cat.

Because I’m no hockey expert curiosity eventually led me to ask listeners a very important question: if I was going to pick an NHL team, who should it be?

Outside of our hometown heroes, the El Paso Rhinos, the answer came back loud and clear- the Dallas Stars! The logic was simple and very Texas: they’re our state’s team, and if you’re going to root for hockey, you might as well keep it in the Lone Star family.

Then along came Jason Robertson- and suddenly, everything made sense!

Dallas Stars Forward Jason Robertson Is Going Viral- and Not Just for His Stats

Robertson, one of the Dallas Stars’ standout players, recently went viral for a reason that had nothing to do with a highlight reel. In a moment that felt so wholesom, he casually shared that he scores goals for his cat- a sentence that instantly launched him into internet folklore; because the internet loves cats, duh!

Things escalated quickly from there. A fan shared a picture of her cat, which Robertson happily autographed, turning a small interaction into a full-blown viral moment that spread well beyond hockey circles.

Dallas Stars’ Jason Robertson is a total Green Flag

As a proudly self-identified cat lady (also well-documented on the show), I immediately picked up on what the internet did too: this is elite green flag behavior.

Cat people know the signs. The internet knows the signs. And suddenly, timelines were filled with praise for Robertson’s kindness, sincerity, and emotional support–cat energy. It wasn’t flashy or forced, it was just genuinely sweet, which is exactly why it resonated.

I may have come for the Texas team recommendation, but I stayed for the cat dad energy. And if this is what rooting for the Dallas Stars looks like, consider me officially a fan- because anyone scoring goals for their cat is already winning!
